I was playing with an old chess set for years and every time i played i broke out in a rash. it took me years to discover that the pieces were made of poison oak.

Poison oak is a shrub.  I doubt you'd get enough wood from one to fashion a chess set (?).

I'm preaty sure the spores would have left if the chess set was that old for someone to mistakenly put poison oak in for the wood.
