A little corny, but I tried.

"I fell apart. So, all the Kings horses and all the Kings men picked up my pieces and took off." They were found later, playing in the Queens game.

The only place the average man will make a sacrifice in life is on a chessboard, which, incidentally, is the only place women don't.

I think that quote is most appropriately credited to Joseph Heller.  In Catch 22, Yossarian was going to live forever or die in the attempt.

If you have two bishops on the same color square, and haven't promoted a pawn to a bishop, somebody really messed up.

heheh... but would be unknownable, all you would be able to do is calculate the probability that it has gone wrong.

Hence the "probably".  Incidentally, since it's unknowable, it's in a superposition of already gone wrong, and about to go wrong until we measure it and inevitably find that it's gone wrong.
