I have experimented since about 6 months on the unanswered posts forum category to find out what happens when somewone responds to a single thread.
My findings is that there are a substantial number of posts that never get answered, naturally: attraction, topic and other unattractive titles keep us away from even reading.
I thinhk that the unswared posts are a source of rejuveneration and a lot about younger players trying to find an answer to their querries
Young chess players are at the source of chess perpetuation and I would like to ask everyone to look at this forum category and try to help younger people as with no answer they can get shifted away from chess.
What my experiment revealed today is what I call the dynamite fuse.
One single answer on a forum post that is to interest to you can trigger a forum with hundreds of posts. And when no one answers the thread dies.
As one single example today I responded to: http://www.chess.com/forum/view/more-puzzles/hardest-mate-in-2-2?ncc=3#first_new_comment
And magically more people responded and why?
Human nature says that if something seems to be of interest to someone else perhaps I should look at it.
Let's all keep alive the forum on unanswered post and try to reply to some posts and see what we can all benefit from.
This category is about new ideas as well as old ones and mostly about inquisitive very pertinent questions, just select the one you like and respond as the unread posts will eventually disappear when the time comes and it is the new ideas and questions and querries and ideas that will keep forums going on.
Just a thought.
