We all know Robert James Fisher was the greatest chess player of all times. Houdini is the greatest performing engine of all times. Who would win??

Are we talking chess, or a taking-punches-to-the-stomach contest?
We are talking forum fights
Liquidator_Brunt
Cards was more Houdini's thing.

Are you referring to the 3300 rated chess playing software "Houdini"??

Fischer probably the better questionis who would win this match, Paul Morphy vs. Fischer
Yeah or what would be the score in a match between Kramnik and Pogonina. Any guesses?
Pogonina 12 Kramnik0
Kramnik gets distracted easily (the blunder of the century)
Let's stuff Larry Evans in a milk barrel.

Imagine if they played a serious match after they both went insane. The arbiter would need to be armed with tranqiulizer darts. Seriously, when Fischer was at his best He would beat anyone, man or machine.
No My vote goes to Morphy at his peak
You could be right,Morphy is one of my favorites too,but Fischer was awsome from 70-73. I wonder if anyone has used a computer to play a fantasy match between them. If anyone knows of such a thing please post the link. I would like to see it.

Houdini escapes with a draw.

I have found some moves which houdini didn't find out and could lead to a better future.I think fisher could hold some draws with houdini but loss more eventually.
GMLoveJr
That is really an unfair question because Houdini is highly predictable. It only makes the best possible moves in any given position so all you would have to do is study the first 3 best moves per move you make and you can come out with a draw but No human being will ever beat Houdini the best anyone can ever do is draw either by 3 move repetition or 50 move rule. Houdini will never makes less than the top 3 best moves no matter what position so if you make perfect moves it will make perfect moves also ending up in a draw. I think given a few weeks of studying Houdini Fischer could have managed to draw all games played but thats the most he could have ever done.

Actually we don't "all know that Fischer was the greatest player of all times." Try speaking for yourself occasionally. Karpov and Kasparov had much longer careers, higher peak ratings and neither one seemed to have had a debilitating mental illness that prevented them from playing after they became the world champion.

Lets put the two in straight jackets, give them a pack each of 24 crayons--no more, no less--and see what happens.
James_Bond_Fan
Houdini would win. Because I think that Fischer would refuse to play it and say that Houdini is a jew
Is Houdini stronger than Fritz 13?
