I totally agree with limiting the number of games. not only is the person with overload being usually slow themselves but their opponents get fed up waiting and start yet more games and so it snowballs.
Limit numbers of games for player
This may not be pertinent to the topic however If chess.com is running sluggishly you might want to try this link. Kohai posted it the other day when everyone was complaining that the website was running slowly. It just clears chess.com cookies, worked like a gem.

Thanks for jwh and kohai.
Ill tryout this cookies clear option, and if it works ill spread the news , its important every body knows this.
I also hope that support will consider using a pop up screen message about this useful option every time we log on .
I would like other players feed back on this matter.
Why what wrong with a short momentary message saying " Advise please click on this link to clear cookies and improve your ...."
It doesnt have to be a popup it can be anything any time as long as we know it will help.
If it were a pop-up, it would be annonying. I don't see why something non-essential like that should be showed to everybody whenever they login.
Clearing cookies really shouldn't be helpful if its done everytime you login, but possibly only after some time. If doing it everytime helps and not only for a handful of users than the staff has to do some changes, because that shouldn't be like that.
Ok i am working with electronics and computer engineering for years their advice will help u all over with computers not only here ,and i know a bit about how the system works so does chess com.
I know it helped me and am sure it helped others .
"Imagine if every place you visited for a week gave you a small bag of cookies to carry around. On top of that, every time you revisited a place, they made you show your bag of cookies or gave you another bag. After a while, carrying and sorting all those cookies would take up a lot of your time. That's exactly how Internet browser cookies can degrade computer system performance."

I know a bit or two about computers as well. Working with them for years doesn't automatically mean you are right. Also, I hate it when people do what you did, state irrelevant but seemingly relevant information and think they proved something.
I did not say that cookies cant help, I said that they shouldn't have to be cleared upon every visit (and therefore a pop-up upon every visit would be annoying and such a reminder upon every visit (in whatever form) would be non-essential.), and if they should it's chess.coms problem and they should change something.
What you posted in no way goes against or even touches what I said, it just talks about clearing cookies and the benefits and reasoning in general (which I did not contest), thus being irrelevant even though it seems relevant.
"I would suggest that the number of games a player may "active" in be limited "
I think the system some times i can see is very slow and i think it maybe over loaded because of many reasons , some reasons must be hundredes of games stored in the system and updated etc..etc..
If someone is using a lot of traffic it will effect every body , and if he has the habit to not finish games or "out of time" and other reasons thats a big problem.
why is it so unreasonable to limit games to a hundred ? or 50 ?
