Im just wondering if there is an average rating for the 3 levels of easy, medium, hard. Im able to beat the easy setting fairly regulary, beat medium rarely and struggle to win on hard. Just wondering compared to site players if there is a way of rating them. Eg. Easy 1200? Medium 1500? hard 1800? im not sure if it works like that just wondering?

I don't know I haven't played all levels.  I do know that many times when I was first playing easy, I didn't win.  Later on I was able to win.  Still even at the easy level I don't win all the time.  I have found that playing has helped improve my sharpness for playing online opponents.  I think that I might start playing some of the other levels and see if I agree with you about 1200? 1500? 1800?  Most likely it will help even more with my online game.  What I would like to see is some of the same features in "Little Chess Partner" as the online game.

    1.  Ability to have moves highlighted.

    2.  Record of moves alongside of game.

    3.  Analaysis of game after playing.

    4.  Ability to record your wins and losses.

Thanks for the comment. I enjoy your feature idea. I hope the designers of this site take them into account.

i dont think its 1800 at the hard level i have played 1800 players before it makes to many positional mistakes to be thats strong but 1600 might be right its about the strength of chessmater 3000 i think, medium is about 1400 and easy might be 1200 at a guess.. But playing OB style chess does improve your correspondence chess...

Thanks cheapciggies. Based on my skill level playing these different levels this is probably right.

I'm not a very good chess player but I can answer this question from a computer perspective (I am good with them).

Little Chesspartner utilizes your PC to calculate positions and analyze your play. That means that if you have a very fast computer, it can be quite a bit stronger than it would be on a weak one.

An exception to this rule might be if you adjust the options so that it searches a set number of ply before moving. I'm not certain if that is how easy/medium/hard is determined, as I am certain that it is also possible to give a max amount of time. If it were ply, it would just take longer to move on weak pc's!

1800 is to high for hard. I'm 1600 or so and when I'm concentrating I can squarely defeat the program. It usually beats me though so on hard it's probably like 1650 ish. On medium I'd say around 1500 and low, well It's not that good.
