With the arrival of live 2 I have experianced an increase in my rating. I'm wondering if this is due down to all the practise and studying I have done and whether this is now starting to pay off as everything 'clicks', or if it is due to a new rating system (I though tit was the same?) or the new flood of players that are now playing on live 2. Is anyone else experiancing something similar?
Yes its the new rating system
All of our ratings were rounded down to the nearest one hundredth. You know how when you play a new member who is really good, but he or she hasn't played any other games on Live chess before? Let's say they're 1200 and you're 1700 and they win. Their rating will make a huge jump of several hundred points. That's what's happening to us - we're all "new" players on the new Live Chess system, therefore all of our ratings (for the first week or so, depending on how many games we play on it) will experience huge jumps for awhile.
It is also partially due to the new rating system Chess.com is using now, as Shane said, but it is primarily due to us being recognized as "new" players of Live Chess 2.
Give it a few weeks, and you'll see the jump in rating points after each game become less and less.
I understand the rating system. My question wasn't about a large jump in ratings after each game, what I meant was an overall rise my rating. I'm gaining 6 7 points a game like before, and am playing people 1700+. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear before.
Ah', I see. Well, I'd say you must just be improving then. Or it's just been a bad couple weeks for the 1700+ people. Good job, either way though!
I haven't studied anything in a long time and my rating has stayed in the same range. My guess would be that you've improved.
lol roper... that is so true, so why is my coach leaving me :( ?
