Live Chess is fixed? Yah right..

So! I finally decided I'd play a game on Chess.com's live chess.  I watched with disbelief as my opponents clock ran down to 0 from 10 minutes after about 4 moves, and then I was promptly credited with a loss.  That's right - You read correctly - A LOSS.  During that period of waiting for him to lose, I could see that I was still connected to the Live Chess server, as people were chatting in the room.  I actually thought I WAS WINNING ON TIME.  Guess not.

I'll go back to playing Deep Fritz, at least it's a sure thing I won't be disconnected from it - and it gives a solid game all the time.

Wake me up when you actually fix Live Chess.

At least the message boards work.

    Regards.

Why is it that many Canadians seem to be complaining about the difficult work that has been done by the developers of this site?  Come on people...  Erik and his staff are doing excellent work!  Quit whining!  Yell

I have to agree.  Attitudes like that never get good responses, and there are much better way of lodging a complaint.  Keep up the great work here.

You know, what - my apologies.

    You're all correct.

I can't stay mad at Eric, he's too damn handsome.

Except to you - to you I don't apologize.  In fact, I fart in your general direction.

Just played my first "Live Chess" on the new interface...  My connection was interrupted three times, but the game merrily went on.  NICE! This was one of the biggest complaints from the previous version (as evidenced by the number of Forum discussions), and it seems to have been neatly corrected.

My thanks to the Chess.com staff!  Keep up the good work!

now now, where you are from has nothing to do with your given level of complaining...

Jaaman, you make the right point that the chess.com crew is working hard, and that if you like myself have played on numerous other pay for play chess servers you know that this one is so far the best of the bunch...

but i must say, us americans have a bad rep for being rude, so let's not meet disagreement with personal attacks.

after all this is chess, a gentleman's game. lets keep it that way.

as for the orignal poster, jdilley, i understand that what happened was frustrating, its happened to me, both here on chess.com WCN and ICC.

this is the internet after all, things mess up.

chess.com is constantly improving which is partly why i decided to go for the most costly membership and even despite recent upsets i am still happen with my purchase.

there are PLENTY of other things to do aside from live chess...

online chess, the computer, vote, et cetera

and you can always try to improve your game in the "learn section"

as for you guys and gals at chess.com, i was really impressed by the co-owner taking the time to host a video chat to explain and smooth over customer concerns, it is a GREAT sign when leadership is so responsive.

    thats all.

I probably have the fastest internet connection around and I never got disconnected from chess live until today. I have FIOS and paid for the most expensive speed. It's insanely fast and my kids can play those Xbox 360 shooting games with no time delay or lag. BTW- I just got a message that the server is down.

Don't panic. You have no idea how bad Xbox live can be at times, and Xbox live is not free. Live chess is free.

Do you have any stats on this about the whinning in terms of pure numbers? the largest countries do the most whinning by number of people, perhaps in your stat base you could normalize  all of the countries to have an equal comparison between the 230+ countries that have members on this site and come up with the winner wiener of the whinner.

Canada is not a complaining country just realistic people that express their views.

Live chess? What live chess. I like the old way far better than "spinning square loading icon chess" which last for several minutes.Cry If you can get in, don't count on being able to play anyone.

Also for me, it was usually the other guy that got disconnected. I never really had any major problems apparently as much as some people did. But the clock sync was always off, which did cost me on a lot of Quick games.

They're having network problems. It could take a few days to fix that up. In the mean time I'll make another sandwitch.
