What is the difference between quick and blitz on live chess?  They seem to be the same to me.

That is also blitz. Blitz is considered normally to be 5 minutes because that is the preset, but the program registers anythign 3 or above blitz. Till you reach 15 in which is becomes Long.

sorry - i meant 3-15 is blitz :)

i know that normally 5 is blitz, but we have to band the times and give different ratings per time band.

1 17 is blitz because the incremental time multiplies out by the average number of chess move in a game (25 or 30 i think).

I would guess the average amount of moves in a blitz/quick game is different from that of a normal/long game Undecided
