My name is Tom and I make video's of me playing games on chess.com with live commentary during the game.
If you like the idea of this then check this video out!
I did check out your video the last time you posted this. You probably know there are a few other YouTube video commentators who are titled and give very good running commentary of their live games (Chessexplained, Kingscrusher, ChessNetwork). There are others who give analysis of completed games like Majnu and Mato.
It is really fun to watch these strong players work their way through games and to hear them think and calculate out loud. I think it is very brave of you as an improving player to put your games online like this, which means you must be open to accept some suggestions (this is not criticism!).
Your commentary is similar to theirs in that you share your train of thought as you play. But those guys are solid players, so why would I want to hear your commentary?
It might be more interesting if you were to discuss your long-term chess goals, as well as what specific areas of your game you are trying to improve with each game. That way your viewers can follow your journey towards your long-term goal, say reaching 1600ELO (or whatever the UK equivalent is!), and during the games viewers can look for the same things you are, and stronger players can can give you specific suggestions. For example, if you're focusing on learning a specific opening, let everyone know which opening you're learning, explain how you have studied it (eg, a specific book or software program), and what your goals are. You can discuss along the way whether your approach to learning the opening is working or not and get suggestions from other viewers. Or if you're focusing on calculation and tactics, calculate out loud so viewers know which lines you are considering. Or say you're focusing on endings, say what you're studying and what you want to improve.
Others I'm sure will have their own views, but for me the only reason to watch you play would be to see how you try to improve your game over time -- what study techniques are working/not working, etc.
I hope that helps. Good luck!!
Thank you so much for taking time to reply to me, I think sharing my long term goals with my subscribers is a good idea. I'll be sure to make improvements to my video's.
I find it interesting enough to watch other low-elo players like myself. Especially if they make bad moves as his opponent did. So I can say: "What? Look at those weird moves! I woulnd't do that!" :D
With you on that one.
