As it is, regular Vote Chess is either painfully slow, or must be checked every hour.  So what about this idea.  You get many people to join the 2 teams on live chess (people could set them up, or there could be certain refreshing games) and play some Live Vote Chess.

First, you could set time constraints (1 min/move, 3 min/move etc)  The move that was most made during that time would be the move for the team.

You could have team chat.  Or a viewing board for what moves have been made by your team on the current move.

Pretty much everything else would be the same as with Live or Vote Chess.

The option of 10-minutes/turn has returned to vote chess.  This allows an entire game to be played by two teams in one sitting (granted, it could be a LONG sitting, but any given individual could stay online for the enitre game.

The Dark Knights try to play a game of Speed Vote every Saturday.

True, Billium, but yes, that is a very long sitting.  While I suppose that many of the features are already in Vote Chess, Live Vote Chess would add all the benefits of continuous updating.  You see the chat, the moves.  It would be really cool.

I really think this would be cool, and I would like to see more opinions

I agree as well, that does sound like a great idea. What time limit per move did you have in mind?

I think a 5 minute per move, it's gives everyone time to look make a decision post it and then move.

10 minutes/move seems fair enough. Anything shorter like 5 mins/move and I think you're not really discussing with your teammates so much as you are just individually voting on moves, which sort of defeats the point of Vote Chess.

Maybe it could be incorporated into the present Live Chess engine, using the new(ish) chat functions with an extra team option.

So, two teams of, say, minimum three people each are chosen and locked in. Each team gets their own private chat room, and the game starts with a clock just as in normal one-on-one live chess. One person on each team is designated the move-maker, so when a decision is reached (by discussing and submitting a vote each), the move is made. This way you could have a total time limit of an hour, or whatever, and the game could be concluded in a sensible time.

How about that? I know this is potentially open to abuse by the move-maker, who could perhaps ignore votes, but there might be a way to work around that. The reason this idea sounds really good is the fact that you have the live discussion about each move, which would be really informative and engaging for everyone on the team.

not a bad idea.  The game would move along fairly quickly.
