Longest chess game?

Anybody can provide a link to the longest chess game in history in terms of moves? I wonder how long it can take to mate a king :) I read there are certain positions that even a computer requires something like 500 moves to win...

Fair enough. But imagine the position you posted occurs in a top level tournament. Will blacks resign? I guess no. Will they agree for a draw? Most likely. What I was interested in was if there was a game that actually continued up to the point of a mating net and then a resignation...
