LucasChess, good chess program

I want to suggest you this free chess program, LucasCHess. I find it very good. You can play against custom engines of different elos or against an engine of you choice. There are a lot of training methods, very useful are mates training and tactics training, there are a lot of position. After you play a match, you can generate a personal training based on the mistakes you made in the match. You can also play blindfold chess.  I really suggest you to dowload this chess program.

I agreee this an awesome program. I like  playing the custom players with elos. I think the elos go as high as 2100. You can aslo set the time controls I set 45min 45 sec this  program works greart with the DGT E-board.

Its running also with Linux (with Wine) without problems.

Nice program, speciell for children. They can play against a ape, turtle.. etc.

How do you change the piece design?  The default settings are not that good.

You can change the design. But first you have to log in with your username in konfiguration/user. Then you find more options to change piece design!

Maybe interesting for you:

Does anyone know how accurate are the elos of the personalities in comparation with real fide elo or chess.com rating?

Threebeast

I am not sure, but like this program alot,,, I often have trouble with all the program personalities regardless of the rating.

NightKingx

I also like it, but it has a lot of inaccuracies.

I don't see a log on option, it has: Quit, Play, Competition, Elo-Rating, Training, Tools, Options, Information

The closest I see is Options->Users

In that window it has: Accept, Cancel, New, Remove

Is there supposed to be a place to register?

You don't have to log on to anything, just right click on the chessboard's border and you will see options for this.  Sometimes the right click won't work if it is auto-playing the game of the day, so stop that from happening if it does that by itself.

I agree Lucas Chess is great. I like the FICS player mode, play like a GM and the daily test.

I have been using it for a few months, mainly for generating training files of my own blunders, but I can't do that with 960Chess games!!!

960 PGN just won't open.

Do any of you folks know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

In the database option, when you start making moves and following the games, if you reach a position that other game has, but from a different path, it doesn't show. I mean, there is no transposition of moves. Does anyone know how can this be activated or how to solve it?

This position:

You can reach it by a different ways. But if you go d4 d5 c4 c6 Nf3...you will have a different number of games which continued from this position than if you go d4 Nf3 c4 d5...

Other progams like Rybka dont have this problem. And in Arena, when you create a book, you have the option to tell it you want to use transposition or moves or not. But I dont seem to find anything like this in Lucas Chess. Can anyone help me? Smile
