have you guys ever made a move just because it looked super awesome, even when it didnt gain you anything?
Once I think so.
I don't think so. Sometimes I make moves that look good, but turn out to be bad ones. I usually try to weigh the consequences of every move I make and find out if it will give me anything before I make it.
yes. one time i promoted to a bishop. it was epic.
I have done that before.
I often make moves out of intuition rather than seeing all the variations of possible outcome. Many of the greatest players say that a good attack will play itself, so if your intuition is telling you to sacrifice a piece "Do It". Start to foster that intuition. They say Anand has the best intuition in the game, so there is something to it.
There are times when promoting to Bishop is preferable, as when Queen would cause a stalemate. But it is cool, and a little braggy, to get away with an under-promotion.
I love "quiet" moves, you see the purpose of it 3-5 moves later....
Awsome moves tend to gain something. It's what makes them awsome.
i have to disagree with that,
recently i had the chance to sacrifice a knight, and in return get one back 4 moves later with forced moves. to me this is awesome, maybe because im not really good yet, but still its awesome. in the end i didnt do it since it would give him/her the advantage.
but it left me wondering if i was the only onw who would concider doing that just because it looked cool :)
If you sac a knight and then regain one with forced moves it sounds to me like you've at least taken control of the initiative and have some kind of attack rolling unless you seriously compromised your position as a result.
i know what the word "intuition" means, but what excactly does it mean in chess? I often se at the board, and "feel" that if i sacrifice the queen there will come something good out of it, but i dont really what that actually will be. I dont have a big plan for that sacrifice, but i just gets a feelings, that the move will be awsome...The downside to this is that i never dear to do the sacrifice, and i end up playing the same boring way i always do...Any thoughts`?
I have made these moves where the move sounds promising to get a advantage . mosed of the times i have mucked up. But for many games, ive come out with awesome victories.
That's funny, I was just thinking about this sort of thing. I read in the wikipedia article on Sam Loyd that "His playing style was flawed, as he tried to create fantastic combinations over the board, rather than simplifying and going for the win," and that made me think about one of my recent games. I posted it in the game showcase forum here:

No less than twice in this game, I played a move that I otherwise might not have, just because I thought it clever.
