When I became a 'Gold Member'  a year or so before, I never realized that the membership is set to auto renewal.  Probably my fault, as it clearly states in the transaction history page that the membership is set to auto renewal.

But with all the emails chess.com is sending us, it would benefit the members if they can send an email to members informing them that their annual membership is about to expire on this date and as they are in auto renewal it will be renewed for such-and-such period. 

I didn't even realized that my membership is renewed until I saw the entry in my credit card statement. 

You can cancel so there is no auto-renew. (This is not the same as closing your account.)
