Chess.com should open a feature which allows us to upload a song or even a playlist of songs on our profiles...I know I would enjoy this feature for the simple fact that I write music and would like for that to be avaible for others to hear as well... Whats everyones outlook on that..adding this feature?

I don't think this is such a great idea due to the possibilities of file sharing and copyright.

Yeah, Kohai is right, that can lead to all kinds of legal issues. The sites that do allow you to do that (like myspace) only use songs that the artists allow.

What about the more than generous 'Downloads' section?!

There is a lot of banter going on at present with music industries and artists complaining about copyright/copytheft due to illegal downloads via file sharing.

I'm not disputing the fact that someone posting music on this site actually owns the music rights, or composed it themselves, but it can lead to some people sharing music that has/or may have been "borrowed"  from elsewhere. The latter, could cause all kinds of problems for this site and its team.

Yeah it would probably be a copyright/hosting pain in the ass.  Plus - I don't want music to start playing whenever I open someone elses profile.  That is one of the main reasons I hate/don't use myspace.  It's annoying.  I listen to my own music when I'm online - I don't need other people's (usually poor) selections popping up when it isn't wanted.

Richman, if you want to share your music then put a link to it in the OFF-TOPIC forum :)

So the issue at hand is..annoying or copyright issues, because u can upload music without the compabilities of file sharing...

issue is annoying + technically difficult + would only appeal to a very small number of people and we have limited resources and still so much to do...

Understandable, could you set-up a voting poll for users to vote on the issue? Even if everyone voted yes, does not nessarly mean you have to set it  up, but i am just interested to see if any others thought about it? Laughing

i dont agree....

music may cause our focus decrease(relax our brain)on the chess game and easily make the wrong move then lose the game.

I disagree that the music causes one to lose focus, for some this may be true, but for me, it acutally helps me focus. The difference is, I'm very picky about the music I listen to, and when Im playing chess, *I* pick it, not someone else. ;-)

U dont listen to music as u play just when your checking out someones profile in their complete profile......or we could add a link on the profiles that say "My favorite artist" which you can click to hear the music...This is a chess community which features who we are, and to me it makes the community more cohesive... :-)

Erik, how come there was no capability on chess.com to make an NCAA tournament bracket pool? I have a lot of great picks I want to share with everyone, but I couldn't do it. I expect by next year there should be a bracket feature on my profile so that everyone can see my picks. Please put all your hard work on finalizing the live chess features, the tactics trainer, opening explorer, etc. on hold and implement this feature. Kthxbye.
