One question with a rating like hers, why do they not play women in the mens tournaments, or do they already.  This is not a physical sport, or would it hurt the male ego if lost to a women.

Yes and she is a doll, but no big thing, the Russians have the market of the most best looking women overall in the worldWink

Obviously displaying patience and resilience partially learned from talking about chess whilst being assailed by the tremenous collection of chess.com corndogs.

    YOU'RE WELCOME.

    Congrats Natalia,

Who says beauty and brains don't go together? She is one of my most admired chess players. I am certain she will one day obtain her full GM Title.

Wow. Okay, that is really wonderful... I can't wait!! Laughing It will be so interesting to hear about the details of it.

It really is so good of you to post here, I don't know how you have the energy to do so much. I also don't know if I would be humble enough to post with "common" chess players if I were as good and important as you are.

Congratulations again on your success. Perhaps now you have the title of the best female chess player in all of Russia. Smile

Looks like the pages of this thread are in danger of getting stuck together.

Also I heard that she lost in the rapid tie break to Alisa Galliamova so is unfortunately not the champion.

Oh, yeah they've updated the twic article to say that unfortunately she lost the rapid playoff in the final. Still, what a very strong performance by Pogonina, anything can happen in blitz among players of this caliber.

I don't agree with your comments on why people are following her so much, I think that if another lady contributed a lot here but wasn't as good looking that she would get about the same amount of support.

Besides. I believe it's a good strategy she's doing for both herself and the community - chess doesn't pay much nor gets any publicity bringing in new comers, and what better way to bring in both in a very sexy, intelligent woman?

I'd like to see her playing with some bishops!?
