New Excuse for a blunder

I'm playing a game right now and my opponent (who wil ultimately win the game) blundered.  He wrote in the chat area:  "I lost my bishop and I don't know how."  He then wrote, "You must have received an extra move, I could not have lost it."  I suggested he check the area that lists all the moves.  I've been on the site three years and hadn't heard that excuse before.

I first wrote "you lost it on move 36, it happens to all of us, you're still in a great position for a win."  he then responded, "no, you must have gotten an extra move."  I was going to write "check the 'move' list," but I decided to just disable the chat at that point.  I don't have the patience I used to have.

LOL. Good for you. I think you've hit on the correct answer. This sounds like a good game for you to recall Nimzowitsch's famous cry of woe: "ohhh how can I be losing to such an idiot!?"

    What you dont know?

It's clearly a black hole of some sort which has swallowed his Bishop.

    Never happened to you?

he or she was definitely serious because after I politely pointed out the situation, and suggested he check out the list of moves, he insisted that I was wrong that I must have had an extra move.  unfortunately he was indeed very serious.  oh well.

Is he suspecting of a bug? Or is he suspecting you received an extra move from an engine?

Haha, sounds very much like a joke I would personally make after blundering, though :).

Hah.  Good excuse for an OTB game.  "Hmm, my dog must have jump up here while I wasn't looking and eaten my bishop!"

"No, the bishop is over here  with the other captured pi--"

"Yes, I'm sure it was the dog."
