Oh alright. I'm afraid to ask but gonna anyway. What does the taco trophy mean?

I've never paid too much attention to them but just out of curiosity, what is it for? Why do people choose that? A taco seems kind of weird anyway.

Zigwurst

Why not?

GreenCastleBlock

None of the trophies mean anything; they are just there

MrDamonSmith

I've read some posts that people get sent some just as a joke. I can't remember any examples. How can I see all the different ones people can select?

What is taco(-bell)? EmbarassedLaughing

Elubas

Haha, I got one of those too. I have no idea :D

Elubas

So when someone sends me that trophy, they're telling me to not eat a taco? What if I want to eat one?

macer75

Well... there's a pizza trophy and a hamburger trophy. So why not a taco?

pocklecod

The purpose of the taco trophy is to let someone know that if, at present, you had the ability to hand them a taco as a gesture of good-will and friendship, you would do so.  However, as you are separated by potentially thousands of miles, a small picture of a taco will have to suffice as a symbol of your feelings and intentions.

A pizza and hamburger are just a pizza and a hamburger. A taco is slang for something else.

Well, yes, but I don't think that's the intended meaning for the trophy (Intended by chess.com, that is).

It's a roundabout compliment indicating that you played like Tal.

See, Taco was a musician from the 80's that put out a cover version of Puttin on the Ritz.

That song was originally performed by Fred Astaire.

Now what does this have to do with Tal? Well what was one of Tal's traits that he is infamous for? His stare. Tal had a stare (Astaire) that could unnerve even the most confident of players.

So when Mersaphe says it's a metaphor for something else he's spot on. Take it as a compliment, that's what it is.

I think.

Elubas

Wow, how could I have missed that.

I'm pretty sure the taco question is the greatest question ever, but I was too scared to ask itEmbarassed
