Can't people who are almost certainly going to lose their games RESIGN before going on vacation??

Zzanzibar, get used to it.  Rules provide parameters.  If you can't live within the parameters, find another hobby.  No, I'm not trying to be a wise guy, but there are goofballs out there who will take advantage of the rules to irritate you beyond belief after they find they are losing.

Just make sure you endeavor never to play them again.
