Just want to see which game type is preffered among you players out there along with your reasons why. I myself prefer Queen Pawn closed games. I Prefer things to be closed because I do pretty well with that play style, plus i find in alot of cases, many people dont like closed games. I also like things to be a bit more complicated as closed games generally are. Let The Discussion Begin!

Yeah, E4 is pretty popular, i used to love it...then i discovered d4. Been playing with it for a couple months now.

with 1.d4 it's pretty hard to open the game

for some reason people( noobs) will play 1.d4 and push all their kingside pawns and i you castle your dead :P

and usually the c5- break isn't enought :(

Yeah, that is noobs though, I prefer to keep my game closed, Castle queenside, then throw kingside pawns. But it all depends on the situation.

I prefer to play open,..sharp and fast,..so I choose d4 for opening game, play open make me exciting..lol cause sometimes we can make blunder move and so do our oppenent...that;s why I like chess games,..very unique and interesting game..Kiss

due to those doubled pawns i couldn't achieve e5 and i thought c5 wouldn't be enough so i got squashed cause i couldn't attack the center fast enough
so i guess another thing i can learn is don't castle too early

But D4 is the common move for a closed game. Do you mean E4?

good game,...Smile and Benny, no I mean d4 (queen gambit)  I like that opening,..but sometimes I play e4.  Basicly all opening are good to play with, if we familiar with it.

Ok, Queens gambit does lead to some closed games, not as many. i would call it more semi open. The declined line gets very closed.
