I played in a tournamount yesterday and couldn't help but notice that when your sitting opposite someone, the bad smell of BO or smelly breath. It makes me retch sometimes and i have to sit with my hands over my nose, it's disgusting. Havn't these people heard of deodorant or mints?

Where were your smelly opponents from? I have noticed this problem but usually among eastern europeans.

I'm not gonna say incase they use this site and i don't really want to hurt any particular persons feelings. It's just something that happens often on the tournamount circuit. A generalisation if you like.

There was a guy on a rival college chess team that I swear would munch onions before a match. He had a knack for letting out a big sigh at critical moments in the game. You won't find that in most tactics books!

I was playing in a tourny a while back. when I made my move (a tricky little thing) the guy put his finger up his nose! So I said 'do you mind not doing that, it's putting me off' he just said 'sorry but I have to pick my brains'!Laughing

Sorry m8 but I do get your point. It's disgusting what some players will do to get an edge.

About 10 years ago we had a player who played in the local leagues who was a chain smoker ,and through this developed terrible bronchitus. Anyway in one league match, he coughed so much that he vomited all over the board and pieces. Luckily i wasn't there, but heard this tale off a few players.
