New Orleans had one of the Best ever to come from this city. This city is poverty stricken we need some big Time Chess Events in New Orleans so the world can find the next Paul Morphy.

How will finding the next Paul Morphy help those poor people?

Plus you're assuming there's a latent "Paul Morphy" waiting to be found in New Orleans. Possible, but statistically unlikely.

He'd presumably already know he was an exceptional chess player and the press would already have found him, if he existed.

chessoholicalien, you are engaging the part of the brain that is rational, assembles pertinent facts and uses logic to form an argument.

This is no place for that, sir.

100% agree with nolaupt, Paul Morphy was a great talent, but he didnt last long enough to show it.

The thing is, he retired so early that we'll never know just how great he could have been.
