Pawn Power!

Here is a game where my opponent misplyed the opening, and I took advantage of that. First, I won a pawn. Then my next 12 moves were all pawn moves! This even won 2 pieces! Finally, I get a Bishop, Queen, and rook developed, and deliver the final blow. In the whole game, 23 of my 25 moves were towards his King. Also, 16 of the 25 moves were pawn moves! But to start the party, 13 of my first 16 moves were pawn moves!

You beat the snot out of a player rated 600 points lower than you --... I can't wait to see the youtube of you kickboxing a nine year old.

Agreed... boasting about beating a player rated so far below you is just not impressive at all.  Had your opponent been close to your rating, or maybe 600 points higher than yours, you would have been punished severely for attempting to play with pawns alone!

However, it's a good lesson for people just how pawns can be very powerful if you don't play against them correctly.

jg ... really? why does the rating matter? game of chess is a game right, we should be able to have fun playing and going over the varieties.

    gimmie thanks for sharing ..

I find the OPs gloating annotations annoying. He seems under the impression that he's done something more interesting than make ordinary moves against a player who is making mistakes.

If I missed the point of the post, tell me, what was the point?

If the point was to analyze his chess and his opponent's chess to see where he or his opponent could have done better... well I don't see any evidence of that... he looks at one move outside the game, d6, ... there isn't a single variation examined. What there is a lot of is remarks to the effect of: 'I really made a good move there'  'Oh what a hopeless position my feeble opponent has...'

If the point was to share a good game -- was this a good game? I see a beginner getting slaughtered for being a beginner... what do you see?

The second one is funny, but the first one is alarming! I really hope that little girl didn't get badly hurt.

    pwnage.

Yes, pawns can pwn, but only if done right and I'm afraid your example only works because your opponent failed to take advantages of the weaknesses you created by pushing too many to early.

actually i play using pawns quite a bit and can tell you after move 10 you should have lost starting with black playing 10...Qh4+ can you find the rest.Wink it takes a while to play good with pawns without creating much or any weakness.

You didn't forget anything... . you just started the attack a move late. After 9.g4?? Qh4+ white has to play accurately to avoid being mated quickly, and is completely lost with best play. And Be2 is not a resource...
