What do people think of this book?  I have read it once and am currently going through it again and must say that I have found it very instructive.  Anyone else's thoughts?

I worked through much of it about ten years ago. It helped my game. Soltis writes good books. I've recently been spending a little time with his Why Lasker Matters.

I just got it 2 weeks ago off people's recommendations on this site and I am pleased. I've found it important to not just study openings (like the book section will have you believe you should). I feel it's not gimmicky, like traps can be (you need a very specific set up of pieces and series of events) and teaches in a general sort of way. What lessons were most valuable to you all?

It gives a good overview of many pawn structures. So it can help to choose your opening repertoire.

I particularly remember the part with the Maroczy bind & the knight's hop on d5. Very instructive.Money mouth

But the typo is bad : sometimes the main variation is in bold, sometimes in italic.

Well, I just ordered the book.  I usually get stuck in the middle game and find myself thinking, now what do I do?  I know pawn structure is important and it sounds like this book will give me insight I need.  Thanks

Trust me that this book will help you find a good plan based on pawn structure.  I think there was a grandmaster who said something like "when soltis takes his time writting a book, it is well worth reading." I think it was Edmar Mednis.  Anyways, good luck with your chess, and hope that this book helps.
