So I'm signed up for a tournament that consists of 10 rounds (2 games per opponent), consecutively with 2 1 hour breaks for food. I need advice for how to handle playing in a marathon like this.

In my case, when it's break time, I try to relax and have some fun and forget about it. :)

...or/and even eat food while playing! :D and think that it's just a few games, there's nothing I would lose even if I lost ('cause, yknow, you'll learn from your mistakes.). Having spirit is good for it makes you think better.

BTW, what's the time control? 20 hours straight is inbelievable :O

We had tournaments like that around here a few decades ago. I think we called them Insanity Opens.

Time control is 30+5, and there are 10 rounds, play each opponent twice.

The name of the tournament is Summer Insanity.

I guess you could get one of those beer helmets and fill them with a caffeine rich beverage. Getting relatives to poke you with a broom and shout motivational slogans at you is sure to provide additional support.

    Sometimes they were called Enduros.
