Points? Are you talking about Member Points? Because if you click on it, it gives you an explanation: "keeps track of all of your contributions to the site such as comments, blog posts, forum participation, articles, etc" So a thousand points can mean a thousand comments/posts? Like this reply gives me one point thus making me a happier person.

So if you have a really active blog / vote chess or post a lot on the forum over many years, you would have many thousands of "points" i.e. posts.
