Could you maybe send Erik a copy of the ad?  Make the popup the active window.  Copy the popup with Alt-Print keys.  Open the Paint app that came with Windows. Copy the image of the popup into paint with CTRL-V (or alt edit insert on menu bar).  Save it to a file with alt file save-as (you pick filename).  Include the resultant file in an email to erik.

I have advice! Download Firefox 3 if you haven't already! I suggest it as a web browser anyway! With FF3, you can download add-ons. One great one is Ad-Block Plus! It's safe and you can get rid of anything! Just send me a message if you want more info!

Google Chrome and Safari are also good alternatives.

Really anything is better than IE.

The problem is that the popup can come from another source and appear as if it's tied to chess.com. Firefox three is the simplest way to elliminate the problem. I assume you checked your security, etc. I have not had any problems here or anyplace else, even some hacker sites where there is always a chance of a computer security breach. Send an image to the ever watchful Erik and he'll fix it. Sorry Erik, I didn't mean to so easily offer your services for fixing things. Next thing you know people will want you to come over and look at the wiring, plumbing, baby sit their kids.....

Let me be one more voice for Firefox 3.

That combined with Ad-Blocker Plus will take care of all your popup worries...
