Is it just me? Does it always seem like when you capture your opponents Knight Pawn with your Queen, there is usually a high price to pay? An unseen missle falling from the heavens, perhaps a long walk to the Woodshed for a painful lesson. Maybe it should be a Chess Axiom or Maxim, that it generally is not a good Idea to take a Knight Pawn with one's Queen!
Or is it just me?
there already is one the pawn you speak of is called the poisend pawn and there are a few lines which it is ok to the pawn but like you said a price must be paid
Without an example of a position it's hard to say. There are some positional traps with this pawn that will lose your Queen or at least be very bad for your position, but sometimes it's just a clear take and any plans your opponent had are just an illusion of theirs.
It's an important rule in any game though that you should think extra hard before moving your Queen, especially if you plan to plunge her right into the thick of your enemy camp where she may be attacked from all sides. She is your most potent attacking weapon and should be used with extreme wisdom.
Good Point! Here are Examples...

Hello, queen chase!
It's not just you, this move can get you into a lot of trouble in several openings.
