I have a very simple question. Here's the scenario.
Your opponent is down to just their King. You have 2 both bishops (black and white). Is it possible to checkmate an opponent with just a King and 2 bishops?
I realize it is geometrically possible, but it seems nearly impossible to position the pieces properly. If possible, can anyone please show an example.
Thanks
yes :)
here is one example: http://www.markalowery.net/Chess/Checks_Checkmate/Bishop_Pair.html
basically you have to drive him to the corner. it isn't simple, but very possible.
Thanks, Eric.
I knew that it was possible, just very complex and sychronized moves between the King and each bishop.
The other difficulty in this mate pattern is being careful NOT to stumble into a stalemate resulting in a draw. It's easier to do that than the actual checkmate.
Tahnks again...
