Picked up a copy of Silman's How to Reassess Your Chess a couple of days ago... worked through the first couple chapters and so far it seems like a pretty good book. It's definitely introducing me to some new perspectives and concepts.

I'm excited to work my way through it and learn some new tactics and ideas....

I do know one thing. I NEED A CHESSBOARD! It would be much more effective in working through the problems if I could see them played out on a board in front of me.

I also bought Silman's 'The Amateur's Mind', only in the first chapter, but so far seems worth the money.  I agree, get a board (preferably one with notations printed on it), it will help for the vizualization process.

Reassess Your Chess is the best chess book I ever read.  Also very good a second or third time through.  His endgame book was helpful as well, though not as funny.  Yeah, and get a board, although I've heard you should try and do as much in your mind as possible, as it will really help your OTB play.
