Resigning on move 1

I know the rule on here is Players aren't suppose to resign on move 1 but what happens if they do it in unrated games then it's not breaking the rules right? I had an opponent who did it to me this early morning just want to check thanks.

I never knew about that rule. I would resign on say move 5.

Well, I guess if its unrated we can't do anything about it. Besides, we don't really lose much time from a player quitting on move 1? Just be magnanimous and let him off, and play with better players! Of course, we should remind ourselves to complete our games, and not give our opponents a shock by simply quitting!

How about doing an "abort" instead of a draw on move 1. That seems like a much more reasonable idea to me.

I've run into a number of people who abort or resign because they were looking for a specific opening to go up against. Maybe they should have put that in the game title or stuck with Little Chess Partner.
