Please i am interested in travelling abroad, but to make the visit most memorable i would love to enter a marathon race and then play a chess tournament. Please does anyone know any country where these two activities occur within a  2 weeks time frame.

I think you will succeed in almost every country. What are your requirements about the chess-tournament? Is any small 12players tourney with rapid time settings ok? Or should it have at least -x- Grandmasters?

this sounds like a great idea!  You inspire me to become a better chess player and a faster runner :D
