Score rules in tactics training??

Anybody else has got the impression that the evaluation rules of solved/ non solved tactic exercises are pretty much random? Sometimes you score a good bunch of points for a stupid two or even one move mate or piece win and others the give you one or two miserable points for solving an abstruse mêlée or even you lose some few points by solving entering the red countdown, which by the way you never know when it's going to start. I have even had points taken after solving in an alternate way. Does somebody know what the rules are? And what the penalty is for clicking the help icon? I've never used it, lest they make you pay 20 points!

The current tactics trainer does not support multiple solutions. It is looking for the strongest/best continuation. I'm not sure what the guidelines are for how that decision gets made though. There may be tactics out there where the eval difference between the best and second best isn't that large and I've seen where staff have asked those be reported.

For scoring, if you are doing tactics via the app or v3 of the site then things may have changed somewhat but this should give you a partial idea of what is happening.

Thanks for the link Martin_Stahl. It shows the principles of the evaluation system, which clarify quite a lot.

There are quite a lot of questions missing their answer, thou. So, I just contacted support, prompting them to make clear things like, for instance, when negative scores begin in the graph shown, how wrong moves or pressing for help are penalised, how to know when the red count down starts, why is solving out of time is penalised like failing and so on.

I'll post their reply here.
