I dont know why but I get very nervous playing blitz..specially 2-3 mins...I dare not play 2-3 mins, sometimes I even shake playing blitz..so I normally start with 5-10 mins...how can I conquer such fear?
heinzie
I quite like the controlled environment of blitz stress.

Personally I play 15 minute games in Live Chess, I think it's a better time period, It gives you a little time to think, less stress.
:) I just download chessmaster 10th edition.I like playing with different style players.I prefer positional banalced player style to warm up.Then I try fisher style-aggressive one.I think warm-up before playing blitz is a good idea, just like sports...perhaps that helps...
and I feel less stress playing with engine than with human..weird isnt it?I think I want to win too much playing with a human.

it's just adrenalin...your body's natural fight or flight tendencies coming into play.... feed off of it to keep yourself alert.
A simpler solution. Stop playing silly games that don't allow you to think sufficiently. ;-)

Please do not opt for surgery as a career.
I think there are two solutions.
1.play as many games as you could. but how many moves are good enough per day?
2.play quality games to get more experienced.think longer and harder.
3.find a coach to be well trained.
I would slow your game, I am not highly rated but then I don't always think as much as I should, But learn to play not just to win, enjoy the beauty in the game, even in defeat.
ditto.I play slow when I have trouble.
Serious answer: play more 10 minute games, with the personal directive that "I will try to finish my game with five minutes left on the clock." But be sure to stop and think when you feel you need to stop and think.
You'll develop a feel for how long you really have to work through those sticky positions, without feeling all the pressure of the clock ticking away at you. Once you feel more comfy, switch back to blitz.
"Blitz chess kills your ideas." - Bobby Fischer
Get the idea? ;)
I think 'WarriorNeedsFood' has 'hit the nail on the head with his suggestion, give yourself a little time to learn and as your 'knowledge and understanding' of the game improves then so will your confidence, little by little, then one day you will have a solid understanding of the game to be able to play 2-3 minute games comfortably and without fear.
hm...does anyone use blunder check function for practise?I find the hint explaniation is very useful...for example,it tells me this move is not better as there is no capture ahead so I will concernate on the move that can threaten or capture pieces.
I dont have a big problem with positions I use my tables and wont go wrong too far.Just so many confusion of whether to make threaten, defense or attack moves makes me always in bad situations.
