Vote Chess -- when it's good, it's pretty good. It's very interesting, educational, and invigorating to share plans & analysis with a team, working together to pick the best moves. The games where I've had the pleasure of participating on a good team, I've really enjoyed.Vote Chess -- when it's bad, it's really bad. And unfortunately, it's usually bad. Teams too large or small, and too often just indifferent, to even try to build cohesion. Players who vote without reading any of the analysis, or worse before any analysis is made at all, and usually without any kind of plan. Every game, the same Sicilian Sveshnikov, making the same frickin' positional error every time.
If I was going to describe my ideal team, I'd say it would probably be about 30 players or so in a typical game. A few games going at once, but not too many, so you don't have people just making moves to get through the games. It's not so important that the team be loaded with high-rated players, as that everyone be committed to working together. Discussing plans, getting on the same page, holding your votes until the team is ready. And maybe most importantly, changing up the openings occasionally to keep it fresh.
Are there any groups out there who are focused on playing Vote Chess the "good" way? I'm definitely not interested in any of those 700-member behemoths; I'm thinking of something more specialized, more focused. More of a real team than just a group. Does that exist here?
i have been contemplating starting a group for just this purpose.
I would be interested in joining.
Well, that's a start, I suppose. The thought had crossed my mind as well that if nothing to that effect existed, we could always start something. Any others of a like mindset?
I'm by no means a good player, but this is really interesting, a serious vote chess team could probably boost your learning curve alot for most players.
A lot of people on this server strongly believes in Vote Chess - me being one of those
We have created a League to promote Vote Chess, I suggest you consider registering - you will find a lot of similarly minded people, and eventually be able to choose one of the groups, or create your own - whatever will work best fo you.
In case you are interested, here is the link!
Team italia belong to the first group, i had a very very good VOTE CHESS experience with them.
i'm learning a lot from our strong players :)
long life to the TEAM ITALIA
one problem with vote chess is the shorter games, as people will only be on once per turn really, so they might offer thier opinion but do whatever move they want anyways. a seven day or fourteen day game would take longer, but would have higher levels of play, as each member would almost definitely be on multiple times to comment.
if people plays like we are doing against Becerra, you can only lose vote chess games. they login, maybe read some comment, and then vote the most voted next move.
so if someone start voting the wrong move it's impossible to made a good move.
is does exist, is called the CTI=Chess Team International
here and come in and have a look, is all what we do focus on a good game of chess, good team, good discussion etc.

To expand, that group is really for representatives of serious-but-fun vote chess teams only. There is also a public group that everyone can join:http://www.chess.com/groups/home/vote-chess-league-tournaments
Tip: when you are researching a team to join for good vote chess, do the following.
Links - thanks for the correction - I just realized I posted the wrong link...
That is an excellent suggestion, linksspringer. Thanks!
Can you make challenges in vote chess with your team ?
Spiffe, I am in where do i sign up?
Yes, if you are an admin, you can go to another team's page and select "Challenge to Vote Chess". You can also create and accept open seeks.
This is a great topic because I enjoy playing vote chess very much. I enjoy the vote games at the group level more so than the big public vote games you see on the main page. And I believe it can really improve your game in ways that might surprise you. The most important element is to place yourself among a group of players that don't argue or bicker. Sure, everyone is going to want their favorite move to win the vote and the higher rated players are usually going to get their way. But it only makes sense because, after all, they are higher rated and find better moves. Communication is paramount. Don't just suggest a move but say why you are suggesting it. Encourage other members to take part. Common courtesy and respect goes a long way.
Excellent post wormrose, I agree with you on that one.
