Should I buy diamonds?
Why pay if you want to lose on purpose?
Smart notice! I didn't give a sh to look at his other forum posts, although I smelt some similarities, but didn't know where. :D

Yes, that was me, so what? I briefly considered playing in an "easier" tournament, because it would be more fun. So? Are only people 100% focused on rating allowed to watch videos, do TT, and have chess lessons.
If I just wanted to improve, I would immediately play in that tourney, and I'd be smashed in every game. It's not like my online rating is set in stone, anyhow, as I've only played a few games online.
Sure, I'd be paying to improve, but also to have fun. Are premium members supposed to have no life outside chess and only do stuff which improves their chess? If that's the case, you should probably post less on forums.

What??! There's life outside chess?? What kind of sorcery is this????
I think I'll upgrade for a year at Christmas.
You won't be on here at Christmas I'd wager.
So how much will you wager?
If you are thinking of buying diamonds, only invest in fancy coloured ones-yellow, pink, red and blue

Fancy coloured ones, particular blue ones, are the least fancy of all diamonds. They are fake... But fancy or not, blue diamonds are the best.
TA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
BLUE DIAMONDS! AND DO YOU LIKE MY NEW NAME? J-STAR-ROAR, AS IN A PLAY ON MAGNUS' CARLSEN'S MODELLING COMPANY G-STAR RAW! THIS IS AWESOME!
Personally I think Gold makes the most sense.
When I finish the 25 tactics trainer puzzles, I am DONE for the day. Even if I could go longer I wouldn't. The chess mentor is the same way.
What really matters to me is the tournments and while they aren't unlimited, having 10 of them makes the most sense as there is no point overflowing yourself with dozens of tournaments.
That is just how I feel anyway, others might feel differently
Yeah. It seems the items beyond gold are mostly overkill.

You say that now. Sheesh! I like the videos anyway. Just watched some of Danny Rensch's liveshows. Yep, I know you can get them on YT, but it's Christmas! And I plan on playing 20 1-min tourneys a day.
What do you actually get, other than videos? There's a whole list of stuff premium's get but what is it?? The only 1 I understood was
- Premium Member Icon
- And I don't know whether I'm willing to spend £64 to have a diamond floating by my name...
I have been using Diamond membership for a while. Here is my view:
Drills section is very good. You can learn of having a strategy, what you should focus on and what you should avoid. I am currently learning endgames. If you already learnt these staff it may not be beneficial for you but especially for amateurs it is a great source. For example (for amateurs) look at this position:
White to move and win. Many amateur players may just push (and they do) his pawn until it is blocked by its own king. Chess.com Premium membership gives you the point you should focus on in this kind of endgame. Here is what they teach:
(The image is taken from this site's drills, I hope I am not violating site rules or royalty. In case so, I stand to be corrected.) Chess.com teaches us that your king ought to take control of the square your pawn is going to promote, otehrwise you may not win unless your opponent blunders.
In the same way, it teaches you how to draw the game in case you are left with your king only vs your opponent's king + pawn. It teaches you what you should concentrate on so that you will not end up losing theoretical draw position. Many types of endgames are taught.
There are odds section with which you may discover when you have to play aggressively, how to plan a strategy based on the weakness of your opponents. It of course is odds game meaning the computer coach gives you huge odds but what you learn is to set up an attack, to plan an attack. I did not check other parts of Drills yet. Drills is very important part of why you should buy Diamond membership.
Then, videos may also be beneficial. I discovered a great trap due to this videos Diamond membership made available. It is titled "when engines go wrong." The video teaches a variant in Caro-Kann where your opponent is very provoked to attack your poisoned ROOK, yes poisoned ROOK. In turn you take huge attacking chance. Even my Droidfish went wrong in that opening. It is just one example, there are many things in those videos you can learn.
Lessons are also beneficial as far as I experienced but I did not check much of them, only a little part I have checked.
These are things Chess.com Diamond gives you with money. Is it worth the money you pay? I would say it depends on you, if you are keen on learning it may be a huge assistance to you. If you already a strong player I do not know if it is worth or not, I have never been a strong player and do not if it may add something to you.
Few extra points:
If you have busy life and still intend to buy premium membership to improve, I would suggest Gold membership. It is cheaper than Diamond and thus has less to offer than Diamond BUT it offers you what is enough for you:
1) 25 tactics per day: That is enough unless you think of being a professional chess player who intends to live on chess. Diamond gives you unlimited tactics puzzles but 25 is sufficient, I think I never solved more than 20 in a day but hard workers will seek more, that is different than my case.
2) 5 Lessons: 5 lesssons a day is enough and I doubt you can learn more in your busy life. You can learn even less than 5, you may listen to it but can you absorb it? Practice it?
3) Drills are unlimited in Gold membership, so no problem.
4) Gold lacks videos section. How I wish the site offered several at once for a period of time. For a busy man, I would say this is the only things Gold lacks but I hardly doubt videos alone make 70$ per year.
Do you want to support the greatest free chess site that ever was? I'm saving up until I can afford the lifetime membership
Do lifetime memberships actually exist?????
