Hello all. I am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to the one I am having right now: all of a sudden, I am drawing more games than ever before! Granted I am not losing very much, of my past seven or so games four have been draws and three have been wins, but in all of my chess.com history I had only drawn 32 of 527 games before this recent streak. This doesn't just apply to chess.com: I have been having similar results over-the-board. What gives? I am always disappointed by a draw, and why are they suddenly cropping up in all of my games? I would like to hear of similar experiences, or general advice. Thanks all!

You look pretty strong. It is bound to happen as we get stronger. The game just gets harder and harder for one side to win, becuase very few blunders are made. I heard someone say that at that level you have to actually work to win your games, instead of just waiting for your opponent to blunder.

Heh, aint that the truth! This is the only game I go on vacation from. (It's also the only game I play regularly, but that's purely incidental :p)

I would probably agree with brown - as you face competition that isn't dropping pieces or missing tactical threats it's a lot harder to gain and maintain an advantage. Don't be disappointed by a good competition - a draw against a strong opponent is much more satisfying than crushing a weaker one! Smile

when people stopmaking the "obvious blunders" games start to be won by either opening prep, or postional weakenesses , dont be upset, be fine with a draw with black against an equallly strong or higher rated player and continue to look for advantage as white(stay away from dry play)
