I have observed that since this evening (3rd Sep US timezone) the site has become too slow. Is anyone else facing this issue?

I'm not convinced running slow will be a popular new feature.

Erik, thanks for the info. However apparently the updates to the site have introduced several unwanted features also e.g. the analysis board has stuck on old moves made earlier this afternoon (new moves not reflecting there), all of a sudden old alerts (game challanges) are appearing again, Ignoring old alerts gives some parsing error popups (I didn't note the exact error massage). These are few glitches I have noticed in last hour or so...

don't be such a naysayer! try it, you'll LOVE just sitting and watching pages load!

We had some serious DB issues and js issues shortly after the launch, so I'm guessing the strange behavior you were experiencing was related to this (i'm hoping). These have all pretty much been resolved at this point, so please try these things again and let me know if you're still seeing these bugs.

All 3 issues (analysis board stuck, old alerts, ignoring alerts gives errors) are still there...

did you try hitting Control+R on your keyboard when on the chess page? that should get the new javascript onto your machine. also, what alerts are showing up? and which ones give you the error on IGNORE?

I had some problems earlier (couldn't move pieces, different error messages,...) but they're all fixed now.

I pressed control-R but it didn't fix the issue.

Issue#1: Analysis board of my game http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=50197 is stuck on move 10 whereas actual game is at move 16.

Issue#2: I am still seeing chess game challange alert from checkmack whereas I have already accepted the challange and the game is already in progress.

Issue#3: When I ignore the alert I get a popup message with the following error "An error occured during AJAX Response Parsing. The error response will appear in a new popup.".

On pressing the OK button I get another popup with the following message: "'null' is null or not an object on line number unidentified in file unidentified".

I hope this will help you fix the issues.

That is very odd crazyknights. I looked at your game, and the analyis board works fine for me. I also impersonated you through our admin tools, and I don't see the alert you mention here. Any chance you can screenshot any of these errors and email them over?

Well, I did some more testing...

I found that the analysis boards for all my games were stale. So I tried control-R on each one of them and it fixed those issues. Even some of my games were showing old moves so I had to press control-R to refresh them. Now the issue#1 is fixed. But I don't think that I should be required to refresh every game and thier analysis boards (basically every page I visit). It is too stupid design of the new featured added today (no offence to developers of the site - they are doing a great job by proving good features and making the site better everyday!!!).  I never had to press control-R before.

Moreover I am not sure if every member of the site knows that they have to press control-R to refresh thier games. Their page might be showing that its their opponent's turn to move whereas actually their time might be running out.

Now issue#2 is also partly fixed. I don't see alerts on my page. But when I click on the players name from whom I used to see the alerts (from the challanged received section or from current games section) I still see the alert from those players (players usernames are "gwan" and "chessmack"). And still get the same errors when I press ignore or accept/reject. Try links  http://www.chess.com/echess/profile/chessmack#  or http://www.chess.com/echess/profile/Gwan impersonating me from admin tool and let me know if you also see those alerts.

It is sounding to me like your browser is caching these pages for some reason. What browser and version are you using?
  • 5 years ago · Quote · #14

    CrazyKnights

IE 6.0.  The option of checking for newer version of stored page on every page visit was always enabled.

But the good news is that now issue#2 is also gone (issue#3 not applicable anymore). I am happy now :-)
