Hi, Erik of staff recently asked about problems re refresh times etc.

I replied that lately chess.com has become very slow! A computer should be "instant" and waiting for next move to load can be like watching a kettle boil!

Tonight I just noticed that in bottom left of screen, "optimised-by rubiconproject.com" appears whilst before I only noticed "....data...static...chess.com" if you get my drift.

So the question is simply.... was it always "rubicon" and slow is new or is "rubicon" to blame for my new found impatience! Coz I can go to any site and press "next" in whatever format and "next" appears, as was the case in chess.com upon submit being pressed. And I just realised, it taking me longer to even log on.

My imagination or my stupidity?

Feel free to elucidate!

And just to prove my point it took 45 seconds for my topic to post and a further 10 seconds to allow me to start typing this P.S.

Go figure!

ah, that is an ad server. sometimes it can be really slow :( there are pieces of code that come from lots of different servers. some of them come from javascript servers, some from ad servers, most from our servers.

i know - it stinks. it shoudn't be like that. i have messaged them about it (Rubicon) to see what they say. i'm sure they use a traditional CDN (content delivery network) to do these files, but who knows.

anyway, not to be cheeky, but this is one of the perks of premium membership - no ads and faster loading times.
