I have noticed alot of players that I play will play fast until I get the advantage. After that the slow down to near maximum moves per days. Makes for long tournaments.

 Does this constitute bad sportsmanship?

Your opinions please

I slow down sometimes too and the reason is that I just don't know what to move. If I just can't find any good moves I might get frustrated and leave the game until I log in again. Ofcourse if you slow down on purpose even if you know what your next move will be, I would consider that bad sportmanship.

I concur.

I suppose it could easily come across as bad sportsmanship, but I like to look at the board a couple of times before I make my move. Of course, in the opening it's much easier to decide which moves to play since I've most likely played them before.

Not necessarily bad sportsmanship. When I am in trouble (as your opponents), I slow down and try to find the best move to survive, so sometimes I make it at the last moment.
