we all make mistakes and blunders , but how many times one can be punished for a blunder (2 in fact) and face the somethered mate (philidor legacy), in a recent game with a friend OTB he tried to deviate from theory against the sicilian, the middle game seemed weird for both of us , tried to hold my aggressiveness when i play the sicilian, my opponent made 2 terrible errors which allowed me not just mate but to SMOTHER MATE HIM , a combination i only learned in books , possibly made live long time ago in my chess but i cant recall....i tried to annotate the game for u here, hope u enjoy it

He perhaps hoped to mate you the same way as you him. After 22. Nf7+ Kg8?? he could have done so !Smile

But this may have been  wishful thinking! At that moment he had already a difficult position

Great Finish. You barely escape his brutal attack and I dont know what he was thinking but I have achieved that position only in Tactical Training so far never in practice. May be some day.....
