I agree with Charlie.  spair75, you should probably delete/edit your post, as it's inappropriate to "out" someone's real identity this way (of course I have no idea if you even found the right person).

hey come on guys - everything is in the public domain. These sites are advertised normally everywhere. There is nothing about outing. It is just innocent fun. In effect, there are three sarah beths. And anyway, sarah beth, aka batgirl, should be proud if she is indeed one of them. Cry

I don't speak for her, but I would think that if batgirl wished her identity to be public, she would have made it known herself.  There are good reasons for people not to advertise their identities online, and it's courteous to respect those choices.

If Batgirl / Sarah Beth were any of these people and wanted it known she would have linked to these sites from her website. And taken in combination with your recent topic, "I love Batgirl. Don't you?", this does seem a wee bit creepy.

Being from Greensboro, I can safely say that Sarah Beth Jones (#2 in first post) is not batgirl. There is no mention of chess on SBJs website, whereas batgirl has written extensively on chess, esp. chess history.

One of the beautiful things about chess sites such as these is it bridges the gap (a little bit) between chess hobbyists and chess professionals. Chess.com allows isolated chess enthusiasts to "rub shoulders" with accomplished chess players such as Bill Wall, Yelena D and others who visit this site.

Batgirl has achieved a sort of local celebrity status, something which she herself has admitted is both flattering and disconcerting.

How long do you think any chess professional (who can play and share their chess anywhere they want) would stay at a site if they were hounded about? In the same manner, it would be a shame if Batgirl felt uncomfortable or unwelcome at this site because they aren't treated with the dignity or respect that they deserve. This thread is a very bad idea, and shows a lack of maturity. Public domain or not.... with actions like these chess.com will be lucky to retain any members of note.

Please please be respectful of people's privacy.
