I looking at openings on games explorer, and I searched for Amazon attack 1.d4, d5, Qd3. And I found this game on master games but it seems like it was played silly. What is this doing on game explorer ?

Looks like a pre-arranged draw to me.

They might at least make it LOOK like they were playing.

I've seen this kind of thing before, the object being to reach stalemate in the fewest possible moves. 17 moves is bloody impressive! I think Tournement organisers take a dim view of it though! I wouldn't have the nerve, personally. Imagine playing 3. Qa6, having discussed the matter previously with your opponant, only for him to betray you and play 3...bxa6!

It is in fact, very, very clever. If a little out of step with the spirit of competition.

But this game has no captures, and the game posted by you has.

Rooperi - 10 moves! That's incredible. Do you know who it was? I'd be interested to know if there is a 'perfect draw' as it were, i.e. the shortest possible number of moves that end in stalemate. I can't imagine you could do it in less than ten...

This is very interesting. The two GMs involved must have got together at some point, and worked it all out, which is no mean feat. Clearly, such an excersise would involve considerable calculation and attention to detail. I wonder if working one of these out would enhance your chess skills generally? I suspect they would... any increase in board knowledge can only be good.

The game seems premature.

There was another post a while ago, I found this on Tim Krabbe's site.

It was actually played OTB in the 1995 Swedish Junior Championships

I really like the Rook Maneuvre a8-6-h6, the perfect square where it deprives Q, K and N of flight squares. Insanely creative.

lol. that would be pretty funny.

Aggrieved player : "Hey, we spent 14 hours working out this beautiful stalemate especially for April Fools day, we may have gotten into some chess magazines and could have looked at our majestic creation in databases for the rest of our lives, and you just ruined it for both of us!"

Queen snatcher : "Chess is fun"

must have been prearranged. there were plenty of opportunities to capture the queen in the first few moves
