The last thing I need is some smalltalk about the weather in Outer Mongolia or questions about how old I am or what colour my hair is? Small mindedness and rude behaviour ruins this site. Fact of life though.

Would you include unsubstantiated allegations of cheating against nearly every single player on this site as smallmindedness or rude behavior?

Rude behaviour ruins the site, indeed, and your comment is a clear example of anti Sportsmanship, mediocrity and lack of respect towards people playing in this site.I rather prefer someone asking my eyes colour than reading bitter comments like yours.Fact of your life..

I have meet many a beautiful person at all levels of the game mainly by chatting away to my hearts content and very rarely without a blem,if you do not believe me,check out my friends list!
You win some you lose some, but most of all one learns and learns to respect the other regardless off age, gender or level of play;I play to learn,I like when I lose for then I learn by my error,no hard fellings intended, regards,
Gabriel!
ah,forgot to say,I challenge you, lilith,to play a game on ICC where softwares are detected because I use to play there live chess.
I'm ok talking about where I live, also "good luck" is nice, but I don't give out personal information on this website. If someone asks me what my name is or how old I am or my USCF ID# or anything else, I usually just tell them that.
I agree, for it does no harm at all!
any attempts to distract me during the game will most likely result in the game lasting for as long as possible. months or even years. complete strangers fishing for personal information won't fare much better. basic courtesy is okay though.
any attempts to distract you during the game...? Noone could distract you playing TBS when you have plenty time to think and to make a move! Just excuses, lol

they don't respect me, I don't respect them. seems fair to me.

The most inane comment I ever heard was a player who after I delivered checkmate said, "Damn, I was winning." This stupified me, as how can one be winning if the opponent is constructing a mating net that works
Phil: couldn't your opponent have been winning several moves back and blundered?
Well i understand about people thinking about their moves but saying hi,how are you and whats up should not be a problem for anyone.
Of course,Frank, you are right.People only could distract you playing OTB.How can you say they are distracting you if you have 1,3 or more days to make your move? It's ridiculous, lol

Do you think your opponents talking to you is a lack of respect? Incredible! I think just the opposite!
Well if there is a problem he or she can say let's talk after the game.
And also she or he can say:"If you don't want to talk,it's ok,go to hell!" lol (joking)
lol well that could be said but i hope not lol
well,I will tell you that if you don't talk to me in the game chat! lol
I know i love talking as well it lightens the load so to speak.
While I agree that rude responses to chat/the game are not needed. I don't believe that someone not responding to your chat is rude. They could have chat set to be turned off, or they could just have a lot of games on the go and only focus on the board while they make their move. I often find myself not responding to someone till a few moves further down the track if at all.
If someone took this behaviour as rude, I wonder if they also think it is rude if I were to ignore them while reading a book sitting next to them on a bus (complete stranger) I shouldn't have to take time out of my book to explain to them I don't want to talk, or should I?.
