What move, in your opinion, in the history of chess, was the strongest ever - a move which came unexpectedly, or involving a major sacrifice, or created a situation of extreme difficulty for the opponent? The Byrne/Fischer "Game of the Century" obviously springs to mind (when, after a Queen sacrifice, came BxB+ on move 18 leading to disaster for Byrne) - but there are many others.
Which do you nominate?

I think 4. Qxf7# was pretty decisive
NM OmarCayenne
Yeah, I agree with heinzie.
besides "mate" moves of course.

I personally quite like this one: (stole it from an article, but I really liked it)
Also very nicely done because he did to Max Euwe, one of the most calculating players ever.
You are looking for a nice position and move. They are all there, waiting to be played and enjoyed.
Oh damn, there was an "of course" (OK, everybody go home).
Comedian tonydal you are excused .
Hey, there is no excuse for being a comedian! (not in the chess world anyway)...
ok you can come back in now
Come on Tony, give us one of yours! There must be a stunning brilliancy from your repertoire somewhere.
I see IM Shankland has done his TOP 10 list on video here (my download speed is way too slow, so it would take me ages):
Well, considering that the guy played 5-minute chess in both of his tournament games against me...somehow this all seems very appropriate indeed...
Strongest or best moves? It's all so subjective. Just play your games and make sure to imagine enjoying the position you currently have in front of your eyes is the best one you have ever seen in your life and your next move will be the best move Ev4r
thanks Wouter_Remmerswaal that was an amazing double rook sacrifice by Reti. I enjoy his games.
I personally was blown away by the cheeky pawn grab by Carlsen in the recent Nanjing tournament. Move 32...Nxf2 leading to Topalov's demise.

Not that it hasn't already been posted dozens of times throughout the Chess.com fora, but 24.Rxd4!! from Kasparov vs. Topalov, 1999 is certainly worthy of consideration.
Thanks pdela - after move 43 (exchanging Queens) white was outnumbered - and then the Bishop sacrifice!! Shirov had calculated precisely, and having the e and h pawns was too much for White's King to chase.
oinquarki - I take it Karpov resigned after 1.e4?!!
cobra91 - that sure was a wild series of exchanges, and shows how utterly brilliant the top players are. I mean, that was a sequence of 20 moves that Kasparov calculated, starting with the rook sacrifice (plus possible other lines and variations). Remarkable!
Thanks for sharing these games.

The strongest move ever... is called the checkmate! jk idk
