Does anyone think that studying chess in university is really worth it. I have heard of people who have spent years studying chess. I just don't get it. Would you study chess or would you find it boring?
If I had the chance to study chess at University, I would love it. Sadly, I need to earn a salary!
I don't think it's worth it unless you want to be a professional chess player. But I don't like learning moves and different strategies because it takes away the fun of not being sure what your 5 or more moves will be. I prefer to let the game grow on me. I've been playing for about a year and a half so I still suck, but I prefer learning it that way.
What if you do become a chess player and start earning a living?
That doesn't happen unless you're world championship material. Everyone else needs a second job.
Also, when people spend years 'studying' chess, that doesn't mean they've done it at University- I've never heard of anyone doing that.
Here is a lesson from the Brown Mega Corporation Center for Chess Research. What's going on here with the queen and the pawn?
Maybe they're jumping in their squares shouting: "we want our king, we want our king!"
I don't get why the king and the pawn are bouncing.
