I like the style of the chess pieces used in the thumbnail "ad" for the Daily Puzzles which is shown on a main Chess.com page. But after I click on that thumbnail "ad" and go to the actual Daily Puzzle where I can move the pieces the style of the chess pieces is different and much less pleasing to me.
I hope there are enough other puzzle players who agree and say so to convince the Daily Puzzle editor(s) to change the style on the moveable puzzle to be the same as on the thumbnail "ad".
Either way I'll still play the Daily Puzzle.
I don't understand either why my personal taste is what it is. I like the Daily Puzzle because it is something which can be figured out, like a Sudoku game. It is similar to a situations in a chess game when I figure out a way to parry a particular attack and feel successful about that no matter how the whole game turns out.
Thanks, Count_Rugen. I had forgotten about Tactics Trainer.

Even to compare the Daily Puzzle to Tactics Trainer is like comparing apples to oranges, which is itself a comparison not unlike that of apples to oranges. Tactics Trainer is timed, so you can make the right moves and still lose points. Old codgers like me with even the slightest normal age-related visual tardiness discover that with Tactics Trainer we have already used our allotted time before we have even located the opponent's king. Another difference is that the Daily Puzzle usually explicitly states the goal, such as mate in 3, whereas Tactics Trainer never does. Another difference is that the tone of the rejection messages in the Daily Puzzle is much more subdued than that in Tactics Trainer. I could go on. The two devices are very different. I enjoy them both.

I don't like the current style for the Daily Puzzle and I wish if I could change it to "default" (like thumbnail "ad") .

I started a thread that suggests all boards displayed be in a consistent format of our choosing. No responses so far, but if we all want to weigh in on one thread (might get the attention of chess.com) see http://www.chess.com/forum/view/suggestions/board-display-options
