Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place but the tactic with id: 0020792  isn't correct. The solution for this tactic is

This isn't correct as black can play

thanks! there will definitely be some that need editing or to be removed. we currently have only about 5,000 problems, but will be adding tens of thousands of them over the next month!

if you have an error, please report it. each problems has these words on it:

"You can discuss this problem below.
To report any issues with this problem, click here.
"

that is the best way :)

thanks!

Problem 0020886 also has a problem. On move 4 black plays ... Ne3, ... Nf4 is equally as good but gets no credit.

Problem 0021783 also has an error. At the end of the problem you are asked to make one more move for black, but there is no more move in the solution, so I don't think it's possible to get this problem "right".

In Problem 0023402 Black has 3 winning moves on move 2 (Fritz evaluates them all about the same) and only one of them gets credit.

If I just happened to notice 3 problems out of the 10 I was allowed to do today, this doesn't bode well for the problem set as a whole. I hope you don't really expect that the users will report all the issues and that they will be removed by hand.

Anybody else have these kinds of problems? I think a tactics trainer would be really good, but it's only as good as the set of problems it's based on.

totally agreed. just FYI - we launched with a set of tactics that we did NOT manually review and are NOT those that will stay here forever. we currently have 12 CPUs crunching through hundreds of thousands of games to create much better tactics which we will then algorithmically improve dramatically :)

like all things, this is still kinda in beta until we work out the kinks. it's hard to have something launch 100% perfectly :)

we are DEFINITELY aware of this issue and are working on it as quickly as possible!

Yes, I had noticed that moves of equal value were sometimes uncredited. It was always the text solution I hadn't seen, so begs the question "How many times did I miss other "cooks" because my solution agreed with the text solution?"

On the plus side, I really like the tactic trainer and think it may even be addictive! Another good feature, I'm sure Erik and the gang will iron out the wrinkles given a little time. Smile

I would like to suggest a simple additional feature for the Tactics Trainer : ie. allow the user to choose in advance how many problems he wants to do. For example, at the moment, it stops at 10 because I'm a basic member - it suits me very well : I don't want to upgrade because then, it won't stop automatically after 10.

I'm sure you can do something about it Smile
