What is the fastest check mate tactic without using scholars mate?

 

trying for quick mates in the opening against strong players is an easy way to lose

not quick mates that are obvious of course. I want to find a well planned quick and efficient way to win.

develop pieces, control center, and castle

also protect your king, seize the open file, push passed pawns, double rooks on the 7th rank

You must realize that countless men have spent countless hours trying to discover how to do this for over half a millennium. To be able to win quickly and efficiently against any but the most unimaginative defense, you must spend years of your life studying chess. Either that or you are the next Capablanca, in which case, you would not need my advice anyways. Start by studying the endgame, then study some tactics, then pick up a few openings that you like, and you will be well on your way.
